Child Safe Officer Training

Presented by Sport SA on behalf of the Office for Recreation, Sport & Racing

A Child Safe Officer at your club is vital to promote the message that keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. Every club must work towards minimising risk to children and the Child Safe Officer helps to ensure everyone is aware of the club’s policies and procedures to support this goal and can act on any incidents.

This course provides the training, resources and practical experience for you to act in the role of Child Safe Officer at your club.

This training provides participants with information about obligations concerning child safety and child safe environments for their club/organisation. On completion, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the role of the Child Safe Officer and promote the role through your organisation.

  • Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 concerning mandatory notification, child safe compliance and working with children checks.
  • Demonstrate understanding of ‘at risk’, ‘harm’ and ‘suspicion on reasonable grounds’.
