Simon Fairweather OAM

Inducted in 2010

Simon took up archery at the age of 14 in 1984 and it was the beginning of a journey that would see him rise to the very best in the world, as a World Champion in 1991 and again as Olympic Champion in Sydney in 2000.

In 1988, Fairweather won the Visitors Section of the USA National Championships, only being beaten by the eventual 1988 Olympic Champion. By the age of 21, he was the 1991 World Champion.

Fairweather has been selected for and competed in 5 Olympic and 8 World Championship teams and dominated the sport in Australia with 14 National titles.

He is Australia’s only Olympic Archery Champion, and was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2009.
