Lorraine a natural leader, Captained the State Team at the first National Championships in 1955, winning the first of nine consecutive titles.

She went on to Captain the very first National Basketball Team at the 1957 World Championships, which saw her become the first Australian woman to receive an American College Scholarship.

Lorraine represented Australia in Netball and in 1956 travelled to England to play the English Netball team winning 14-11. In 2007 she was inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame’s “starting five club”, an honour bestowed on the best five players of all time. Her sporting talents were complemented by her ability to be an A Grade Tennis and Squash player.
