It’s a celebration of community spirit, bringing together everyday legends to play hard, laugh loud, and share stories. More than medals, it’s about friendships, fun, and proving that passion for sport never retires. Whether you’re chasing glory or just chasing good times, the Games are your chance to be part of something unforgettable, because at the Masters Games, it’s not just about playing – it’s about belonging.

The South Australian Masters Games are proudly volunteer-led, and we rely on clubs like yours to make it happen! Every sport you love started with someone stepping up to host. So if you, or someone you know, wants to bring a sport to the Games, contact us.
The notion of a Masters Games Series was first suggested by the Australian Sports Commission in the early 1980s. The concept spurned the World Masters in Toronto in 1985 as well as the Alice Springs Masters in 1986.
Since then a myriad Masters events have provided the world’s mature-age athletes with opportunities to come together to share physical competition with social activity and fun.
Tenders are closed for 2026
Thereʼs no such thing! Thereʼs no age limit, no pressure and no need to be an elite athlete — just a chance to try something new, revisit an old favourite and prove that sport is always on the table.
Qualify? Nope! The South Australian Masters Games isnʼt the Olympics — itʼs way more fun. If you can turn up, have a laugh and give it a crack, youʼre in. No qualifying times, no trials… just good times, great people and a whole lot of sporting mischief. Come play!
Merch? Oh yes. Weʼve got merch. The kind youʼll want to wear even when youʼre not pretending to ‘warm up.ʼ Grab some gear, look the part and rep the South Australian Masters Games like the sporting legend you absolutely are.
We canʼt release until all sports and registrations are locked away. We’re aiming for a program release late March 2026.
That would be Sport SA! Weʼre working closely with the local council and weʼre proudly bringing the Games together as one big, statewide celebration of sport, fun and community.
Absolutely you can! The South Australian Masters Games runs on legends — and if youʼre keen to jump in, weʼd love to have you. Whether youʼre great at organising, cheering, timekeeping or just keeping the energy up, thereʼs a spot for you. Come join the fun behind the scenes.
The Masters Mile is one of the most loved traditions of the South Australian Masters Games. It takes place during the Opening Ceremony and is all about kicking things off together. Itʼs a one mile walk, jog or run that welcomes absolutely everyone — whatever your pace, ability or experience. The Masters Mile isnʼt about times or trophies. Itʼs about showing up, joining in, sharing the moment and celebrating what Masters sport is all about: community, connection and having a go.mile walk, jog or run that welcomes absolutely everyone — whatever your pace, ability or experience. You donʼt have to register for the Mastersʼ Mile — anyone can join in on the day. But if you do register, your time will be officially recorded and youʼll score yourself a medal. So youʼre welcome either way… but the medal is a pretty nice bonus!
Absolutely! Everyone is welcome to come along and cheer. Bring your friends, family, neighbours — even that one mate who loves giving unsolicited coaching tips. The South Australian Masters Games are all about community, so the more supporters on the sidelines, the better!
