Sam Willoughby is a legendary Australian BMX rider who dominated the sport during the early 2010s. His career highlights include winning a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics, becoming Australia’s first-ever BMX Olympic medalist. Willoughby claimed two Elite BMX World Championships (2012 and 2014) and was a two-time Junior World Champion (2008 and 2009).
Willoughby’s dominance extended to the professional circuit, where he won the USA BMX National Number 1 Pro title three times (2010, 2012, 2013). In 2013, he set a remarkable record by winning 19 out of 24 events on the USA National circuit, including an unprecedented streak of 13 consecutive victories.
His exceptional performances helped elevate Australia to the highest-ranked BMX nation in the world in 2011. Willoughby’s talent was recognized with the Australian Institute of Sport Junior Athlete of the Year Award in 2012.
