Ron Sharpe

Inducted in 2010

Ron Sharpe is recognised as one of South Australia’s finest ever baseballers. His achievements were rewarded in the United States when he was presented with the Helms Athletic Award in 1950, and his name is recorded in USA baseball’s Hall of Fame.

On his behalf, the Helms Foundation presents the Australian Baseball Council trophy to be awarded to the most valuable player in the Claxton Shield, called the Helms Award and presented in Ron Sharpe’s honor.

He was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1986. In 2005 he was an inaugural inductee into the Australian Baseball Federation Hall of Fame and this was followed by his induction into the Australian National Sports Museum in 2008.
