Robert Haigh

From the Woodville Hockey Club, Haigh was a commanding and studious half-back representing Australia in the 1960’s and 70’s, and playing 106 Internationals.

He represented Australia at the 1968 Olympics where he collected a Silver Medal, the 1972 Games in Munich and also captained Australia in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games Final, winning a Silver Medal. He was the Australian Flag Bearer at the Closing Ceremony of the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Haigh also played in two World Cups at Barcelona in 1971 and Kuala Lumpur in 1975 where he was Captain.

Haigh has tasted success as an Assistant Coach to Ric Charlesworth with the Gold Medal winning Hockeyroos at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
