Neil Kerley played a total of 281 SANFL Games for West Adelaide, South Adelaide and Glenelg. He also represented South Australia 32 times during his league career captaining SA for 6 years, including to a famous win over Victoria at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 1963. Kerley also gained All Australian selection in 1961.

His coaching career, spanning from 1961 to 1990 included 628 games with 365 of these being wins. He also spent 10 years as State Coach with his last year being 1984.

Kerley was also Coach of the Australian team for the 1987 International Rules series played in Ireland. The Aussies defeated the Irish 3 games to 2.

He is a four-time West Adelaide Best and Fairest (1958, 59, 61, 62). Glenelg Best and Fairest winner in 1967. 2-times SANFL Premiership Captain-Coach (1961, 64). 2-times SANFL Premiership Coach (1973, 83). Mail Medal winner in 1953. Member of the SA Football Hall of Fame. West Adelaide Hall of Fame – Legend status. Member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
