Kate Slatter was widely regarded as Australia’s leading female rower, winning her first National Championship in 1990.

She won 20 National Titles and competed in three Olympic Games and six World Championships.

In 1995 Kate and her partner, Megan Still, were undefeated in National and International competition and went on to win the World Championships in Finland adding Olympic Gold in Atlanta in 1996, to become the first Australian female rowers to win a World Title and an Olympic rowing event.

Kate was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1997 and inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2003.
