Jane started playing golf at age 6 and by age 19 was a star amateur. She was successful in the 1978 New Zealand Amateur Championship, the 1980 Belgian A.C. and was Runner-Up in the 1977 Australian and 1980 Canadian Amateur Championships.

She then turned professional and was a rookie on the LPGA Tour in the 1981- 82 season. Her non-LPGA wins included a victory in the JC Penney Mixed Team in 1987 with Steve Jones, the 1992 and 1996 Australian Ladies Masters and the 1997 Women’s Australian Open.

In 1990, she captured her first LPGA victory at the Phar-Mor Classic, holing a 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th to win, beating the legendary Nancy Lopez (48 LPGA victories).
