Heidi competed in 9 World Championships between 1980 and 1989 and bought home a medal from each appearance. The 9 medals consistedof 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze. Heidi also won seven Australian Championships in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987 and 1988.
After taking the Bronze in the 60kg division at the first ever Women’s Powerlifting World Championships in 1980, a year later she won Silver in Hawaii, and also her first Australian Title. She would go on to dominate the National scene winning Australian Titles in 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987 and 1988.
Her first World Championship Gold came in 1985 in Vienna, winning the 75kg division and this was followed by further World Titles in 1986, 1988 and 89.
Heidi would also break nine World Records, most notably the 500 pound (227.5kg) deadlift barrier in the 75kg division.
Heidi’s accolades also include two Oceania Championships (1988, 1989) and one World Benchpress Championship (1989).
Heidi was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1991.
