Grant Schubert OAM

Born in Loxton SA, Grant was a member of the first Australian Men’s Hockey Team to win an Olympic Gold Medal in Athens 2004. He also competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games winning a Bronze Medal.

In 2003 he was named World Hockey Young Player of the Year by the International Hockey Federation. He competed in six Champions Trophy tournaments, winning three Gold (05,08,09), two Silver Medals (03,07) and a fourth in 2006. He also won Player of the Tournament and Highest Goal Scorer in Melbourne in 2009.

In 2006 he was selected as a member of the successful Melbourne Commonwealth Games team, which won the Gold Medal. In his last major tournament, Grant won the 2010 Hockey World Cup held in New Delhi India, defeating Germany 2-1 in the final.

Representing the ‘Kookaburras’ on 180 occasions as a striker, he scored 98 goals for Australia and in 2015 was awarded an OAM.
