Anthony Clarke OAM (totally blind) is the only Australian Paralympic Judoka Gold Medallist. Winning Gold at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics in the under 95kg division. He represented Australia at five Summer Paralympic Games. He also won 2 IBSA (International Blind Sports Association) World Championships in 1990 (under 78kg division) in the Netherlands and again in 1998 (under 90kg division) in Spain.

He is a seven-time Australian National Judoka Champion, and thirteen-time South Australian State Title Holder between 1990 and 2008, against sighted opponents.

In 1999, he was awarded the Judo Federation of Australia South Australian Judo Player of the Decade. In 1997 he was awarded an OAM.

Anthony’s competitive rankings included staying in the top 12 in the world throughout his 18 year career, with 10 of those years as number 1 in the world. Against sighted Judoka’s, he was ranked number 3 in Australia in 1998.
