Malcolm Blight AM

Malcolm Blight began his football career in 1968 at Woodville (SANFL). He won the Club’s Best and Fairest in 1972, the same year that he was awarded the Magarey Medal.
Blight was recruited by the Kangaroos in 1974 and played 178 games between 1974 and 1982. Following his time in the VFL, Blight returned to Woodville, serving as Captain-Coach from 1983 to 1985 before continuing as non-playing coach in 1986 and 1987. He was Club Best and Fairest in 1983, and topped the League Goalkicking list with 126 goals during his last playing season in 1985.
His coaching achievements would include stints at North Melbourne, Geelong (where they reached three Grand Finals), the Adelaide Crows (dual premierships in 1997-1998) and St Kilda.
Malcolm was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 1996, into the SANFL Hall of Fame in 2002 and included in North Melbourne’s Team of the Century. In 2017, he was elevated to Legend in the AFL Hall of Fame.
